Science Sam - Vaccine Workshop

Dr. Samantha Yammine (also known as Science Sam) returned to PPR on April 6, 2021. She is a Biologist and guest science expert on Netflix, TVO Kids!, CBC GEM, and CBC Radio.

For this workshop, PPR gathered questions from learners and Dr. Yammine responded with information about the different vaccine options and how to access local vaccine clinics.

The COVID-19 workshop series is presented by Parkdale Project Read and funded by the Government of Canada.

On February 9, 2021, Dr. Samantha Yammine (also known as Science Sam) will visit our remote learning group to explore some myths and truths about COVID vaccines, potential side effects, and how to protect yourself and others.

Creating Health with our Hands and Voices

This program is produced with the support of the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council and funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development
On January 20, 2021, PPR successfully launched the Creating Health with our Hands and Voices (CHHV) program in collaboration with janet romero-leiva (Mural Artist and Community Arts Facilitator) and Aqua Nibii Waawaaskone (Drummer, Singer and Storyteller).

This program is designed for adult literacy learners, of all levels, to practice health and wellness through creative expression. All sessions are held online on Wednesdays and Friday afternoons until April 2021.

We offer continuous intake, please contact us if you would like to register, make a referral, or get more information.

PPR is excited to partner with the SOY (Supporting Our Youth) Program and Another Story Bookshop to offer a new Book Club!

  • Are you a youth aged 18-29 and part of LGBT2SQ+ community?
  • Have you ever wanted to try a book club but have trouble reading on your own?
  • Maybe you want to read more but have a hard time focusing or staying on track with what your reading?
  • Maybe try out a literacy based book club!

We're hosting an info session on Dec 7th and the Book Club will run from January to April 2021.
