Collective Staff Management Team Member Specializing in Fund Development and Administration in a Community Adult Literacy Program
Terms: Full-time permanent position starting September 2025 (with a probationary period of 48 days worked)
Salary: $52,766.31 annually
Benefits: Comprehensive health benefits, 28 hour/4 day work week, 4 weeks paid vacation plus an additional two paid weeks off in December
Location: Hybrid in Toronto’s west end neighbourhood of Parkdale
Parkdale Project Read (PPR) is an inclusive and culturally diverse community literacy program and non-profit registered charitable organization. PPR provides access to learning from a social justice perspective by offering free literacy services in a supportive community. We work with English-speaking youth and adults to develop their reading, writing, basic math or computer skills. We are dedicated to creating a safe and accessible learning environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to learning.
We are seeking a candidate to work cooperatively as a member of PPR’s three-person Collective Leadership Team, sharing program management and administrative responsibilities involved in daily operations. This person will be responsible for leading PPR’s grant writing and fundraising initiatives (with support from the Board of Directors and other Collective members) overseeing financial administrative tasks (with support from the Office Administrative Assistant, whom they will jointly supervise, and Bookkeeper)

Responsibilities
Fundraising and Donor Relations
- Research and update information on sources of funding aligned with organizational priorities
- Lead grant writing activities and processes, in collaboration with the Collective and Board
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies in coordination with the Collective and Board
- Oversee grant budgets and complete grant reporting requirements
- Coordinate fundraising events and campaigns in collaboration with the Fundraising Committee
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, community and project partners
- Ensure organizational financial controls/systems are in place to effectively carry out fiscal reporting and other requirements
- Track monthly revenue/expenses with support from the Bookkeeper and Office Administrative Assistant
- Prepare for the annual audit, with support from the Bookkeeper
- Maintain communication with different Service Providers with support from the Office Administrative Assistant
- Represent staff collective at Finance Committee meetings
- Commitment to working from a critical and active anti-oppression and social justice framework
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices in fundraising and donor relations
- Strong communication skills, including written, interpersonal, and verbal
- Skills to motivate Fundraising Committee members and other volunteers
- Demonstrated experience in effective grant writing
- Experience in evaluating fundraising campaigns to determine marketing effectiveness
- Experience in tracking funds received from donors and analyzing the data
- Excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency in administering and managing Google Workspace, and user experience with Quickbooks Online, HubDocs and Plooto is an asset.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills
- Experience working in collectives and/or highly collaborative workplaces
- Ability to prioritize tasks and seek guidance, with demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and as a team leader
- Availability to attend evening meetings
- Experience securing major gifts and corporate fundraising is a strong asset
- Education and/or experience in Adult Education/Community Literacy and/or Non-Profit Management is an asset
- Prior supervisory experience is an asset
