Emotional Wellness as Anti-Oppression
September 22, 2021
6-8 pm on Zoom
This workshop will explore our emotional wellness and how we can use it as a source to tackle oppression and racism. We will listen to two speakers, Jane Burning and Terry Swan speak about holistic ways we can connect with our mind, body, spirit and heart to build an anti-oppressive, anti-racist environment in our tutoring partnerships and in our daily lives.

This is a 2 hour workshop with a break and a Q&A after each speaker.

About the Speakers:
Jane Burning, Holistic Consultant, FIT Teacher, Reiki Master, Author, Motivational Speaker
After twelve years in the field of Child Welfare and Family Violence, Jane began her private practice with Universal Energy Training and Learning Center. She offered holistic counselling incorporating energy work and co-facilitated weekend retreats. Today, she continues to work independently as a holistic consultant creating and facilitating workshops which are developed through spiritual guidance. https://janeburning.com

Terry Swan, named Star Keeper Woman, of the Fish Clan is Cree/Saulteaux and a member of Cold Lake First Nations in Alberta.  She presently works as a traditional healer at various Indigenous health and urban organizations.  She has built her bundle of spiritual tools, by participating in ceremonies, facilitating healing circles and one on one counselling services.  She is compassionate and believes deeply in each person's capacity to heal themselves.  As a consultant she also offers her time to training and facilitation dedicating her work to achieving social justice and to reconciliation; facilitating meaningful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples.
